Manchester City have been left disappointed after missing out on 16-year-old midfielder Kennet Eichhorn, who has chosen to join Bayer Leverkusen instead. Despite reportedly presenting a more lucrative financial offer than any other club, including Liverpool, Eichhorn decided that a move to Leverkusen would be more beneficial for his career development. The young talent made his senior debut with Hertha BSC last season, playing 17 times in the 2. Bundesliga before an ankle injury sidelined him for part of the campaign. With Hertha set for another season outside Germany's top flight, Eichhorn felt it was time to move on. Both Manchester City and Liverpool were keen to sign him, but it was Leverkusen's commitment to nurturing young players that ultimately swayed his decision. Eichhorn expressed confidence in his choice, stating that Leverkusen has a strong track record of developing young talent into top professionals. Although City’s pursuit of Eichhorn has ended in disappointment, it does not impact their immediate plans. However, if Eichhorn continues to progress, he may become a more expensive target for City in the future.
