Manchester City are negotiating with Palmeiras for Brazilian winger Allan, but his current manager has expressed uncertainty over the player's immediate future. Palmeiras boss Abel Ferreira conceded this week that he does not know what will happen with the 22-year-old, who is seen as a potential replacement for the departing Savinho.
Abel Ferreira was direct when asked about Allan's situation. "I didn't want to say too much about Allan because I don't know what's going to happen," Ferreira said. He acknowledged the player's quality, stating that his departure would be a loss but that the team would remain competitive. The manager highlighted Allan's unique two-way work rate as a key reason for his high valuation, suggesting any buying club would have to pay a significant sum.
Manchester City's interest in Allan is part of their search for a new wide attacker. The club is preparing for Savinho's expected move to Tottenham. Allan has a reported release clause of €100 million, but City are confident they can secure a deal for less than half that amount. Palmeiras are said to have rejected an initial bid of around €25 million, but discussions have since advanced. Ferreira pointed to the market, noting that a player of similar profile in the Premier League, like Pedro Neto, could cost over €100 million, making a potential €40 million deal for Allan good business for the Brazilian club.
Securing Allan would address a specific need on the wing for Pep Guardiola's side. The Brazilian's profile as a hard-working attacker who contributes defensively aligns with City's tactical demands. His arrival would follow the club's other major midfield business, having reportedly agreed a £85 million package for Lille's Ayyoub Bouadd. Integrating a new winger will be important for City's depth as they compete on multiple fronts.
Since breaking into the first team, Allan has become an important player for Palmeiras. He has made 96 appearances across all competitions, scoring nine goals and providing 21 assists. His dribbling ability is a standout trait; since his Serie A debut in April of last year, only three players have completed more dribbles than his total of 70. He registered an assist in Palmeiras' 4-1 win over Vasco da Gama just last Sunday.
